Honhaar Scholarship Program Phase-II: Eligibility, Benefits & Apply Online

The Honhaar Scholarship Program is one of the biggest programs in Pakistan to help students with their education. It gives scholarships worth PKR 30,000 every year to students who study in 68 different fields. This program includes 65 universities, 12 medical and dental colleges, and 359 colleges in Punjab. The second part of this program, called Honhaar Scholarship Program Phase-II, will start on December 4.

Main Features of Honhaar Scholarship Phase-II

The Chief Minister of Punjab has announced that Phase II will support 2,570 students, including 1,660 female students and 637 students from minority communities. In total, 30,000 students will get scholarships worth PKR 120,000 each year. Many universities, like the University of Punjab, have already started giving scholarships. In Lahore, 1,886 scholarships are being given out as part of the Honhar Scholarship 2nd Phase.

Interviews and Verification

Students whose names are on the Provisional Merit List need to attend an interview. In this step, officials will check the students’ educational documents and their family’s income. The interview schedule can be found in the merit lists.

Why is This Program Important?

The Honhaar Scholarship Program is part of a plan by Maryam Nawaz Sharif to help students who deserve a good education but can’t afford it. Every year, 30,000 scholarships are given in 68 districts of Punjab. Some scholarships are also given to 50 students in private universities and 131 graduates in 16 important fields of study.

What is Happening Now?

Right now, applications for the Honhaar Scholarship Program Phase-II are closed. Recently, a meeting was held by Special Secretary HED Mr. Munib-ur-Rehman to make sure the process of giving scholarships is fair and transparent. Students who are selected will be informed soon.

The program will give PKR 130,000 every year to selected students for up to 8 years. This money will pay for tuition and other school costs. Over the next four years, the program aims to help 4 million students, with a total of 20 million scholarships planned.

Who Can Apply?

If you want to apply, you must meet these requirements:

• Punjab Domicile: You must live in Punjab.
• Age: You should not be older than 22 years on the closing date.
• Family Income: Your family’s monthly income must be less than PKR 300,000 (you need to provide proof).
• Enrollment: You must be enrolled in selected fields at approved universities or colleges for the Fall 2024 session. New MBBS and BDS students starting in 2024 are also eligible.
• Minimum Marks:
  • Medical Colleges: At least 80% in FSc/Intermediate.
  • Top Universities: At least 80%.
  • Public Universities: At least 75% for Science subjects and 70% for Arts and Social Sciences.
  • HED Colleges: At least 65% for Science subjects and 60% for Arts and Social Sciences.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

The Honhaar Scholarship Program Phase-II will pay for all tuition fees of the selected students. What is the amount of the Honhaar Scholarship? It is PKR 130,000 per year.
