This is important because you may find a different formula on some websites, especially one showing 5 marks for previous CTI experience and another 5 marks for being a local candidate. That version is also being reported for the 2026–27 cycle by some education websites.
So, when calculating your expected merit, check which criteria appear in your CTI application or merit record. Do not mix the current system with older CTI formulas from previous years.
CTI Merit Formula 2026–27
The current indexed CTI system information gives the following 100-mark merit distribution:
| Merit Component | Maximum Marks |
|---|---|
| Educational Qualification | 85 |
| Previous CTI Performance 2025–26 | 10 |
| Interview | 5 |
| Total | 100 |
The largest part of your CTI merit comes from your academic record. This means your Matric, Intermediate and relevant degree marks can have a major effect on where you stand on the merit list.
Previous CTI performance is a separate component for candidates who worked as CTIs during the 2025–26 session. The interview carries the remaining 5 marks.
What Changed in the CTI Merit Formula for 2026?
Candidates searching online may find older CTI merit rules that do not match the current 2026–27 information.
For example, the 2025–26 CTI recruitment criteria gave:
| 2025–26 Merit Component | Marks |
|---|---|
| Educational Qualification | 85 |
| Qualification above Master’s | 5 |
| Board/University Position | 5 |
| Interview | 5 |
| Total | 100 |
That formula appears in the 2025–26 recruitment document and should not automatically be carried forward into the 2026–27 session.
Current 2026–27 indexed information instead places 10 marks under previous CTI performance and keeps 5 marks for the interview.
This difference explains why two candidates may search for the same CTI merit formula and find completely different calculations online.
How to Calculate CTI Merit
Start by calculating the percentage for each academic qualification required by the current CTI system.
The basic percentage formula is:
Percentage = Obtained Marks ÷ Total Marks × 100
For example, if you obtained 720 marks out of 1,100:
720 ÷ 1,100 × 100 = 65.45%
That percentage can then be converted into merit marks according to the academic weight assigned to that qualification.
The general calculation is:
Weighted Merit Marks = Your Percentage × Assigned Weight ÷ 100
Suppose, only as an example, a particular qualification carries 15 merit marks and your percentage in that qualification is 80%.
Your score would be:
80 × 15 ÷ 100 = 12 marks
This is a hypothetical calculation to explain the method. Candidates should use the academic weights actually shown under the applicable CTI 2026–27 criteria rather than copying weights from an older merit calculator.
Example of a CTI Merit Calculation
Here is a simple example to understand how the final total works.
Suppose a candidate receives:
- Academic merit: 72.50 out of 85
- Previous CTI performance: 8 out of 10
- Interview: 4 out of 5
The final merit would be:
72.50 + 8 + 4 = 84.50 marks out of 100
A fresh candidate who has not served as a CTI during 2025–26 should not assume that previous-performance marks will automatically be awarded. The applicable induction rules and the merit record generated by the system should be followed.
What Are the 10 Marks for Previous CTI Performance?
Current indexed CTI information reserves 10 marks for prior performance as a College Teaching Intern during 2025–26.
That does not necessarily mean every person who previously worked as a CTI will receive a full 10 marks.
The final score can depend on how previous performance is recorded and verified under the induction process. Candidates with earlier CTI service should therefore make sure that any required experience or performance information in their profile is complete and correct.
Do not simply enter 10 marks into an online calculator because you previously worked as a CTI.
Are There 5 Marks for a Local Candidate?
This is one of the confusing parts of the CTI merit formula 2026 in Pakistan.
Some current 2026 sources report the merit formula as:
- Education: 85 marks
- Previous CTI performance: 5 marks
- Local candidate: 5 marks
- Interview: 5 marks
Eduvision, for example, published this 85 + 5 + 5 + 5 distribution in its August 2026 CTI update. A widely viewed CTI application guide on YouTube also describes 5 experience marks and 5 local-candidate marks.
However, newer indexed CTI-system information shows:
85 education + 10 previous CTI performance + 5 interview.
Because these current sources conflict, candidates should not calculate 5 local marks on their own unless that component appears in the criteria being applied to their application.
The safest reference is the merit distribution displayed through the CTI induction system and the instructions issued for your recruitment cycle.
Why Do Some CTI Calculators Show Different Marks?
Many CTI pages remain visible in Google long after a recruitment cycle ends.
For example, the official Punjab Higher Education Department criteria from older CTI recruitment included 85 education marks, 5 marks for qualification above Master’s, 5 marks for Board or University position holders and 5 interview marks. An official HED document from the 2018–19 cycle shows that structure clearly.
The 2025–26 criteria also used a similar structure.
Therefore, before using any CTI merit calculator, look for the academic session written on the page.
A calculator made for 2025–26 may still work technically, but it can give you the wrong estimate for 2026–27 if the merit components have changed.
How to Check the Merit List on the CTI Portal
Candidates should use the official CTI induction portal at cti-hep.punjab.gov.pk for application and merit-related information.
When merit information becomes available, the basic process is:
- Open the official CTI induction portal.
- Log in using your registered account details.
- Check your application or merit-related section.
- Select or verify the relevant college and subject where required.
- Review the merit details shown against your application.
- Check the relevant government college notice board if the recruitment instructions require physical display of merit lists.
- Follow the announced objection procedure if you believe your academic record or merit has been calculated incorrectly.
Do not rely only on screenshots shared in WhatsApp or Facebook groups. Check the candidate information against the portal or the relevant college record.
CTI Merit List 2026–27 Schedule
Current recruitment reports have published the following schedule for the 2026–27 induction:
| Stage | Reported Schedule |
|---|---|
| Online applications | 16–19 September 2026 |
| Tentative merit list | 22 September 2026 |
| Objections | 23–25 September 2026 |
| Final merit list | 25 September 2026 |
| Interviews | 29 September–1 October 2026 |
| Successful candidates list | 1 October 2026 |
| Joining | 7 October 2026 |
Candidates should verify these dates through the CTI portal or their relevant college because recruitment schedules can be revised.
CTI Merit Formula 2026 PDF
If you are searching for a CTI merit formula 2026 PDF, check the year and academic session before downloading anything.
Older official CTI documents remain searchable online and may contain genuine government rules, but those rules can belong to a previous recruitment cycle.
Before treating a PDF as the current criteria, check:
- the notification date
- the academic session
- the issuing department
- whether it says 2025–26 or 2026–27
- the merit components shown in the document
- whether the same criteria appear in the current CTI system
An old official PDF is still an official document, but that does not make its merit formula current.
Before You Rely on an Online CTI Merit Calculator
A calculator can give you a useful estimate, but only when its formula matches the recruitment cycle you are applying for.
For CTI 2026–27, the latest indexed system information available for this guide shows a 100-mark distribution of:
85 academic + 10 previous CTI performance + 5 interview.
If a calculator gives separate marks for a higher qualification, Board or University position, previous CTI experience and local residence, first check which year’s policy it is using.
