LLB Results, Date Sheets, Admissions & Roll Number Slips 2026
Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
LLB stands for Bachelor of Laws. It is the main undergraduate law degree for students who want to study law in Pakistan and may later pursue careers in legal practice, courts, government, corporate organizations, academia or other law-related fields.
The most important recent change is the duration of the degree. Under the Higher Education Commission’s revised LLB Curriculum 2025, the LLB is structured as a four-year undergraduate degree with a minimum of eight regular semesters. Pakistan previously followed a five-year LLB structure, which is why students may still find older university pages and admission notices mentioning five years.
Students planning admission should check the latest prospectus of their chosen university or law college as well as its current recognition before submitting an application.
What Does LLB Stand For?
LLB means Bachelor of Laws.
HEC gives the formal degree nomenclature as Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and places it at Level 6 of Pakistan’s National Qualifications Framework.
The degree is designed to build knowledge of legal principles along with practical skills such as legal research, advocacy, drafting, negotiation and problem solving.
Core areas described in the revised curriculum include subjects such as Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Contract Law, Property Law and Legal Ethics.
Is LLB 4 Years or 5 Years in Pakistan?
Under HEC’s revised 2025 curriculum, the LLB program has a minimum duration of four years or eight regular semesters.
Students may still see references to a five-year LLB because Pakistan previously used a five-year program. Some older batches, university webpages or admission material may therefore use the previous terminology.
For a new admission, do not rely on an old prospectus or social-media post. Check the current admission notice issued by the university or law college where you intend to study.
What Is the Eligibility for LLB in Pakistan?
The revised HEC LLB curriculum sets the basic academic eligibility as:
| Requirement | Minimum |
|---|---|
| Previous education | HSSC, A-level or IBCC-equivalent qualification |
| Schooling | 12 years |
| Academic marks | 45% |
| HEC LAT | 50% score |
Universities can have their own merit calculations, available-seat limits and admission procedures. Meeting the HEC minimum requirement therefore does not automatically guarantee admission to every university.
Always read the current admission advertisement or prospectus of the institution before applying.
Is LAT Compulsory for LLB?
Yes. The Law Admission Test (LAT) conducted through HEC’s Education Testing Council is a requirement for admission to the LLB program under the current HEC curriculum.
The curriculum specifies a minimum 50% LAT score.
LAT should not be confused with LAW-GAT.
LAT is connected with entry into an LLB program. LAW-GAT is relevant after completing the law degree for graduates seeking eligibility to apply for enrolment with a Bar Council as an advocate.
How Do You Apply for LAT?
LAT is handled by the Higher Education Commission through its Education Testing Council.
When a LAT registration cycle is open, candidates should use the official HEC/ETC system rather than unofficial registration links.
The general process is:
- Check the current LAT announcement through HEC or ETC.
- Sign in or create the required ETC profile.
- Complete the application details.
- Follow the instructions for the current testing cycle.
- Download the roll number slip when issued.
- Appear in the test at the assigned centre.
- Check the result through the official HEC/ETC system.
Dates change between testing cycles, so an old LAT closing date or test date should never be treated as the current schedule.
Where Should You Study LLB?
Recognition matters more than simply finding a college offering a law degree.
Before paying an admission or registration fee, students should check the current list of recognized law universities and colleges available through the Pakistan Bar Council’s legal-education resources.
The Pakistan Bar Council provides categories for recognized Pakistani universities, affiliated colleges, external law programs and foreign universities.
A college advertisement alone is not enough to establish that a law program is suitable for professional legal education.
Students should verify the institution, university affiliation and applicable recognition before taking admission.
What Do Students Study in LLB?
The revised LLB curriculum combines academic law with practical legal skills.
Students study major areas of law and learn how to research legal problems, interpret laws, prepare arguments and communicate legal ideas.
The HEC curriculum identifies areas such as Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Contract Law, Property Law and Legal Ethics. It also places emphasis on legal research, advocacy, writing, negotiation, dispute resolution and clinical legal education.
This makes LLB different from a general arts or social-science degree. Students are expected to understand both legal concepts and how those concepts operate in practical situations.
Is LLB a Board Class Like Matric or Intermediate?
No.
LLB is a university-level undergraduate degree, not a BISE class.
Matric and Intermediate examinations are generally handled by Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education. LLB examinations, semester schedules, admissions and results are normally managed by the university or institution responsible for the degree.
This also means there is no single Pakistan-wide LLB result date, date sheet, roll number slip or result portal covering every university.
An LLB student should follow the university or affiliated institution responsible for their own program.
How Are LLB Results and Date Sheets Announced?
LLB results and examination schedules depend on the university.
One university may use a semester system and another may have different examination arrangements for older batches or affiliated colleges.
Students should therefore check their own university for:
| Information | Where to Check |
|---|---|
| Semester result | University examination/result portal |
| Date sheet | University examination section |
| Roll number slip | University or affiliated college |
| Admission schedule | Current university admission portal |
| Fee schedule | University prospectus or admission notice |
Avoid using a result or date sheet from another university simply because both programs are called LLB.
What Happens After Completing LLB?
Completing the LLB degree is an academic milestone, but becoming a practising advocate involves additional professional requirements.
HEC conducts the Law Graduate Assessment Test (LAW-GAT). HEC states that a law graduate seeking to enter professional practice becomes eligible to apply to a Bar Council for enrolment as an advocate after qualifying the assessment test, subject to the applicable professional rules and requirements.
Students should therefore keep the two stages separate:
Before LLB admission: LAT
After LLB graduation and when pursuing professional enrolment: LAW-GAT and the applicable Bar Council process
The requirements in force when you graduate should always be checked from HEC and the relevant Bar Council because professional rules can change.
What Careers Can an LLB Lead To?
An LLB gives students a foundation in law, legal research, writing, analysis and advocacy.
Graduates may pursue different directions depending on further requirements and recruitment rules, including legal practice, corporate legal work, government services, legal research, academia, compliance, policy work and other law-related roles.
An LLB degree itself should not be treated as automatic appointment to any particular profession. Advocacy, judicial posts, government jobs and specialist legal careers can each have separate examinations, enrolment rules, experience requirements or recruitment procedures.
Check Recognition Before Taking Admission
This is one of the most important steps for a prospective law student.
Do not choose an LLB program only because a college advertisement says admissions are open.
Before paying fees, verify:
- The institution or university offering the degree.
- The current program duration for your intake.
- HEC recognition where applicable.
- Pakistan Bar Council legal-education recognition relevant to the program.
- Current LAT requirement.
- The university’s own merit and admission rules.
- The latest prospectus rather than an old PDF or social-media post.
A few minutes spent checking recognition can prevent serious problems later.
LLB 4-Year and Old 5-Year Information
Students searching online in 2026 may encounter both four-year and five-year LLB pages.
That does not necessarily mean every page is fraudulent. Many older pages refer to the previous five-year structure.
For new students, the safer reference point is the current HEC curriculum and the latest admission material of the institution offering the program.
Pakword will treat older five-year information as historical or transitional information rather than automatically presenting it as the current standard for new admissions.
Where Should Students Verify LLB Information?
For curriculum and general higher-education requirements, use the Higher Education Commission.
For LAT and LAW-GAT schedules, registrations and results, use HEC’s Education Testing Council.
For recognition of law universities and colleges and matters related to professional legal education, check Pakistan Bar Council resources.
For a particular admission, result, examination schedule or fee, use the current official information issued by the university or law institution concerned.
Using the right source matters because LLB is not controlled through one nationwide university admission or examination portal.
