8th Class Results, Date Sheets, Admissions & Roll Number Slips 2026
Middle Grade 8
8th Class, also called Grade 8 or Grade VIII, is an important stage of school education in Pakistan. It normally comes after 7th Class and before students move into 9th Class and secondary education.
One thing causes a lot of confusion: there is no single 8th Class board or result system that applies to every student in Pakistan. The authority, exam system, date sheet and result process can change according to the province, territory, school and examination system.
In Punjab, current Grade 8 assessment information is published by the Punjab Education Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority, commonly called PECTAA. Other parts of Pakistan follow their own education and assessment arrangements.
What Is 8th Class in Pakistan?
8th Class is generally the final grade of the middle stage of school before a student moves into secondary education.
You may see different names used for the same grade:
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 8th Class | Common Pakistani term |
| Grade 8 | Modern education-system term |
| Grade VIII | Roman-numeral form used in official documents |
| Class VIII | Another formal version |
| Middle | Common description of the education level |
| Middle Standard | Used by some examination systems |
These terms often refer to the same grade, but the examination arrangements may still be different from one province or institution to another.
For example, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s 2026 promotion policy describes Grade 8 as the transition from Middle to Secondary.
Is There One 8th Class Board in Pakistan?
No. Pakistan does not have one national board that conducts every student’s 8th Class examination.
This is different from Matric, where students commonly sit SSC examinations through Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education.
For Grade 8, the responsible organization may instead be a provincial education authority, assessment authority, school education department, federal education organization or, in some systems, an examination board.
That means students should first identify which education system their school follows before searching for a result or date sheet.
Who Handles 8th Class in Punjab?
Punjab Grade 8 assessment information is currently associated with the Punjab Education Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority, PECTAA.
PECTAA’s official website published a Grade 8 Annual Examination 2026 date sheet and maintains curriculum information covering Class VIII.
Students should therefore be careful with old websites that continue to describe every current Grade 8 activity simply as a PEC examination.
The safest approach is to check the latest PECTAA information and instructions issued by the student’s school.
What About 8th Class in Islamabad?
Islamabad has a different system.
The Federal Directorate of Education has conducted a Grade-VIII Scholarship Examination, described by FDE as a Middle Standard centralised annual examination for relevant public and private schools.
A student in Islamabad should therefore not assume that Punjab’s Grade 8 procedure, result website or examination authority applies to them.
How Does Grade 8 Work in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa?
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has its own provincial assessment structure.
The Elementary & Secondary Education Department lists Grade VIII among its student assessment activities. A provincial policy issued on February 11, 2026 also sets Grade 8 promotion and subject-grouping rules connected with the move from middle to secondary education.
BISE Peshawar also maintains Grade VIII material and uses the term Middle Standard School Examination in its Grade 8 information.
Students should check the current instruction applying to their school rather than relying on an old national-style 8th Class result page.
What About Class VIII in Sindh?
Sindh also recognizes Class VIII within its school curriculum.
The Sindh Textbook Board provides Class VIII textbooks, while the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has issued curriculum and textbook-related notifications specifically referring to Grade VIII.
This again shows why a single Pakistan-wide result or date-sheet procedure should not be assumed.
What Subjects Do Students Study in 8th Class?
Subjects depend on the curriculum followed by the student’s province and school.
Common subjects may include areas such as:
- English
- Urdu
- Mathematics
- Science
- Islamiat or religious/ethical education
- Social studies, history or geography
- Computer education
- Provincial or additional languages
However, Pakword should not present one subject combination as compulsory for every Grade 8 student in Pakistan.
Punjab’s current PECTAA curriculum section, for example, lists its own Class VIII curriculum material, while Sindh maintains a separate set of Class VIII textbooks.
Students should follow the syllabus issued for their own school and education system.
Are 8th Class Exams Board Exams?
Not always.
Some Grade 8 examinations or assessments may be centrally arranged, while other papers can be handled through schools or provincial assessment systems.
That is why phrases such as 8th Class Board Exam can be misleading when used without naming the authority and region.
A better question is:
Which authority or school system is conducting my Grade 8 assessment?
Once you know that, it becomes much easier to find the correct date sheet, roll number slip, result and syllabus.
How Can I Check an 8th Class Result?
There is no one result-checking method for every Grade 8 student in Pakistan.
Use this order:
- Check the name of the education authority or examination system on your school notice or roll number slip.
- Confirm your province or territory.
- Check the official authority or school instructions.
- Select the correct examination year.
- Use the official result method provided for that particular examination.
Do not enter your information into random result websites simply because they use your district or city name.
Also avoid assuming that the result portal used for 9th or 10th Class will automatically contain 8th Class results.
Is There an 8th Class Result by SMS?
A universal Pakistan-wide Grade 8 SMS code was not confirmed from an official source during this review.
Some education websites publish SMS numbers for Grade 8 results, but an SMS code should only be used when the responsible authority has confirmed it for that examination cycle.
Pakword should therefore publish SMS instructions on specific result pages only after verification.
Where Can I Find the 8th Class Date Sheet?
The correct date sheet depends on the student’s examination authority and year.
Punjab students should check current PECTAA or school instructions where applicable. Students in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and other regions need to follow the body responsible for their own school system.
Do not use a previous year’s schedule as the date sheet for a new examination cycle.
Dates can change from year to year.
Is 8th Class the Same as Matric?
No.
8th Class is below Matric.
The normal sequence is:
7th Class → 8th Class → 9th Class → 10th Class
9th and 10th Class form the secondary or SSC/Matric stage in the mainstream Pakistani board system.
This distinction matters when checking results. A student looking for Grade 8 information should not automatically use a BISE Matric result portal.
What Happens After 8th Class?
After completing Grade 8, students normally move to 9th Class and begin the secondary stage of education.
At this point, subject choices can become more important because the rules for secondary education, subject groups and examinations may differ from those used in middle school.
Students and parents should check their school or relevant education authority for the current 9th Class admission and subject-selection rules.
Where Should Students Verify Grade 8 Information?
Use the authority responsible for your school or examination.
For Punjab, check current PECTAA information where applicable. For Islamabad, check Federal Directorate of Education information where relevant. Students in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh should use their respective provincial education sources and school instructions.
Pakword is an independent information website and is not an examination board or government education authority.
The most important rule is simple: check your region and examination authority before trusting a Grade 8 result date, date sheet, SMS code or result link.
