A student with 16 years of education in another discipline relevant to Commerce may also be considered by a university. In such a case, deficiency courses of up to nine credit hours can be required.

HEC’s framework also requires the university to use an admission test or an accepted equivalent test under the applicable graduate admission rules.

These are standards for the current HEC graduate Commerce framework. They should not be copied onto an older M.Com Part I or Part II program without checking that university’s own regulations.

How Long Is the Current MS Commerce Program?

The current HEC model for Master of Studies in Commerce contains at least 32 credit hours.

The model includes coursework together with research work or a thesis and gives a minimum program duration of 1.5 years, or three regular semesters.

This should not be confused with older M.Com structures. Traditional programs offered by universities under earlier systems may have different durations, semester patterns or Part I and Part II examination arrangements.
