University of Peshawar Deciding to Quit Evening Shift BS 4 Year Program

University of PeshawarUniversity of Peshawar is going to closing its evening shift of 4 year BS program from the next session. The evening shift of BS program was introduced in 2009 by University of Peshawar to produce profits. UoP Vice-chancellor Dr Rasul Jan said that 2nd shift of BS program is not financially able to continue this evening session and from this September it would be closed by the UoP. He further said that they want to enhance the ranking of Peshawar University among the international universities and it can only be done by enhancing its quality education rather the quantity of education. The efforts are being made to enhance the quality of education by producing PhD degrees. At present out of 680 teachers, only 215 have PhD degrees while around 350 are getting education in PhD programs at the university.

He further said that around 2,200 students are getting education at 43 departments and institutes of Peshawar University. The fee for BS program students in the morning shift is Rs18000 per annum while the fee for second shift’s students is Rs 45,000 for science classes and Rs 35,000 for Humanity Group. Moreover the lecturers are paid Rs590 per class, assistant professor Rs700 and professors are paid Rs1000 per class in the evening shift. So that is why our expenditures are more than our income from student’s fee. So, we decided to close now the evening shift 4year BS program of University of Peshawar. For more detail about UoP visit website
