CM’s Tubewell Solarization Plan: Solar Subsidies for Punjab Farmers

LAHORE: The Punjab government has started a big project called the CM’s Tubewell Solarization Plan. This plan will help farmers save money and use solar energy for their farming needs. The government is spending PKR 9 billion to convert 8,000 electric and diesel tube wells to solar power.

To make things easier for farmers, the government has extended the deadline to apply for this program until January 6, 2025. Farmers can get subsidies for solar systems, such as:

• PKR 750,000 for a 15 kW system
• PKR 1 million for a 20 kW system

He also talked about the Kissan Card Program, which helps farmers buy farming supplies like fertilizers. So far:

• Over 1.34 million farmers have registered for the Kissan Card.
• 513,000 cards have been distributed.
• Purchases worth PKR 32 billion have been made, with most of the money spent on fertilizers.

The CM’s Tubewell Solarization Plan and the Kissan Card Program are working together to make farming easier and more affordable for farmers.
