PESHAWAR (September 03, 2012): Two persons were killed while nineteen others were wounded in a suicide blast that occurred near the office of the UN refugee agency in Peshawar Monday.Two peoples killed, 19 injured in Peshawar suicide blast

According to police, a US consulate vehicle was the target of a suicide car bomb attack at Abdara Road in University Town that killed two persons and injured 19 others, including two foreigners, two women and two children.

One of the victims was identified as Barkatullah Khan son of Arbab Khan resident of Swat while identity of other victim was not immediately ascertained. Both the deceased were local.

Police has recovered a half-burnt US passport from a car badly damaged in the blast, officials said. However, the spokesman of US embassy said that no American was killed in the attack.

“The car targeted was a US consulate vehicle,” one intelligence official said. Another official said the suicide bomber ploughed his car into the US consulate car.

According to bomb disposal squad expert, Abdul Haq, 110 kilograms explosives were used in the attack.

The explosion left a crater in the road and destroyed a Jeep, damaging two others and demolishing the facing walls of four nearby houses.

Security forces cordoned off the area and started investigation. (GEO NEWS / The News International)
