Karachi: Pakistan’s star cricketer and captain of Pakistan All Stars team Shahid Afridi will only lead the first match against International World XI to be played on October 20.
After an attack on Sri Lankan tem in Lahore, which closed doors of International cricket in Pakistan, the country is organising two T20 matches between Pakistan All Stars XI and International World XI. Shahid Afridi will lead the Pakistani team while the Sri Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya will captain the International World XI. The two games would be played on October 20th and the 21st at National Stadium in Karachi.
According to sources close to the star cricketer, Afridi would not be able to lead the second match as he would be leaving for Hajj, a religious obligation on every Muslim to be performed once in a lifetime.
“He will leave for Hajj on Sunday,” they added.
Earlier talking to media at a hotel in Karachi, Afridi said that he was going through a difficult phase in his cricket career but he knows how to face the challenges.
The all-rounder further said that those who had let down Pakistani nation with their act had no right to criticize him.
Indicating towards ex-captain Salman Butt convicted in spot fixing case, Afridi said that those who were criticizing him on TV screens had ruined the career of Pakistan’s pace bowler Mohammad Amir.
