Islamabad (Saturday, August 25, 2012) – Chairman National Registration and Database Authority (Nadra) Tariq Malik has said that the Nadra will issue a new smart card having 36 features.
Talking to a private news channel, Tariq Malik said that it would be the safest and secured card as it could not be replicated. He said a chip would be fixed in the card which would help government to provide facilities like health, life insurance and donation in case of calamity to the people.
Chairman NADRA said Germany and Belgium had already made experience of such smart cards and now Pakistan is also in a position to launch such one. Its price will not exceed the price of the existing one, he added.
He said Pakistan is preparing an identity management system for Nigeria and civil registration programme for Sudan.
Malik said that the Nadra had developed driving license issuing system for Bangladesh, passports for Kenya, refugee system of the United Nations and Pakistan poverty support card for World Bank.
The Nadra is among 50 top class identity companies in the world he said and added that propaganda was launched against the authority when it got some contracts defeating its international competitors.
