Sirajul Haq, a conservative politician from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa state, was today elected as the new chief of Pakistan’s right-wing party Jamaat-e-Islami. Haq defeated sitting chief Syed Munawar Hasan who had lately courted a argument after he called the abruptly Taliban militants as sufferers. He is a strong proponent of the talks with Taliban. Haq was elected as a member of the provincial assembly in 2002. He was again elected MPA in the last year elections and is currently a senior Minister in the provincial government with Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
